In heat treatment operations, furnaces must cycle through precise temperature profiles heating, soaking, and cooling to achieve the required metallurgical properties in the workpiece. However, a large share of the fuel energy burned during these cycles exits as hot exhaust gas. Without a recuperator, the flue stack wastes this heat on every single run.
